How long does the fontan operation take in theatre?

The fontan is part of 3 staged surgery for children with a congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome

It takes anywhere from 4 -6 hours, sometimes more, sometimes less. It really depends on the severity of the HLHS. My son has had 2 open-heart surgeries already (14 months old) He has a Congenital Heart Disease called Tetralogy of Fallot. He had a BT Shunt at 3 weeks and his "full repair" at 9 months - it took exactly 6 hours.
