When i go to a movie at a theatre it hurts my eyes, like they feel strained and i start to feel sick.

same thing when i am on the computer in a dark room or driving at night with headlights in the rearveiw. what could be causing this eye strain ? it makes my eyes feel the same as when you try to look at the tip of your nose for a long time or read something that is way to close to your face. it is very annoying, i cant afford to go to a doctor right now and i am worried about this, its been going on for about a year now and seems like its a little worse as time has gone on. what does this sound like?

Sounds like you are far-sighted.

This creates eyestrain, particularly with near tasks and makes nighttime vision blurry.

Ask around about a good optometrist. Some of the El-Cheapo chains give shoddy exams, some give great exams....it all depends on the doctor. Get a recommendation, as far-sighted exams for people under 40 can be tricky for some doctors.

FYI--a basic exam in my area is anywhere from $45 to $120, just so you know what you're up for.
